ActionPacked! Networks Announces a Free Software Tool for NetFlow and Cisco Medianet

HONOLULU, HI, January 26, 2012 – ActionPacked! Networks, a leading developer of intelligent software for managing Cisco quality-of-service (QoS), announced today that for a limited time, it will be giving away permanent licenses for its newest LiveAction Version 2.31 software with in-depth, real-time traffic flow visualizations plus the company’s newest Medianet capabilities.
“Many network engineers and IT departments are planning to use Cisco Medianet to help them manage and deliver high quality video and other media traffic on their networks,” said ActionPacked! Networks CEO Dana Matsunaga. “Our new free version of LiveAction makes it possible to begin using Cisco Medianet almost immediately without spending extra money on management solutions or mastering a new set of CLI commands. In addition, our new graphical Mediatrace visualizations will enable network engineers to literally “see” rich media traffic over live topology views of their networks, with performance metrics displayed for each hop along the way.”
As a flow monitoring tool, the free version of LiveAction tracks and graphically displays NetFlow, J-Flow and sFlow paths and characteristics over a live network topology view that the software generates automatically. Users can click on devices and interfaces for more detailed information. As a tool for Cisco Medianet, the software also collects and displays detailed Medianet performance monitoring information and provides the industry’s first live topology presentation of Mediatrace for Cisco devices.
ActionPacked! is currently offering the free, three-device special edition of LiveAction through March 31, 2012 to qualified IT departments in the United States and Canada. The software works with most devices that support NetFlow, JFlow and s-Flow. To use LiveAction’s Medianet capabilities, the Cisco devices must also be Medianet-capable and have IOS version 15.1 (3) T installed.
No purchase is required although users can buy upgrades to support networks with up to 200 devices and to add additional features such as Cisco QoS monitoring and policy configuration, historical reporting, routing monitoring and configuration, and IP SLA testing. LiveAction’s optional IP SLA feature also includes a Medianet IP SLA VO function to manage testing of a wide variety of video operations using realistic synthetic video traffic generated by the Cisco devices themselves.
